shapeshifter

i wish i could erase people’s minds
change the world
just like that
sorry but this is me instead
ungrammatical
paralyzed and anxious
prisoner of my own mind
and impending doom
always pining and yearning
i wish i was a throwback Superman
using the confessional
to change into someone better
not to leap tall buildings
but to save myself
from myself and the truth
i wish i were an acrobat
